Art Exhibition
Local Artists at Harbour Cottage Gallery Kirkcudbright 21 May to 2 June Opening times are 9.30am - 5.30pm daily and entry is free. Those of you who know the Harbour Cottage Gallery, Kirkcudbright’s first gallery, created from a derelict fisherman’s cottage in the 1950s, will appreciate the atmosphere generated by its past and the intimacy of the present - and what better place to host a new exhibition of paintings, in watercolour and acrylic, by Kie Stewart supported by old school friends (not so much of the old!) Gabrielle Harrington (used to be Taylor) and Kaye Brown (used to be Smith). All three were educated at the Douglas Ewart High School in the 1950-60s and have not forgotten the encouragement they received from the then art teacher Jack Maltman. Despite following diverse careers the painting bug has risen to the surface and flourished in more recent years resulting in a number of successful exhibitions. |

Annual Conference - Progression in the Profession: Building Future Leaders
The Scottish Young Lawyers' Association is pleased to invite you to attend our Annual Conference 2012, "Progression in the Profession: Building Future Leaders". Following a sell out day in Glasgow last year, the conference returns to Edinburgh this year on Friday 25 May. The conference is once again generously sponsored by Scott & Co. The conference traditionally focuses on the development of soft skills and business acumen for young lawyers (typically trainee through to 10 years PQE). This year continues that theme, with the sessions tackling: career progression (moving from trainee, to assistant, to partner and beyond); business development in a challenging legal market; the character of a leader; keeping yourself flexible across specialisms and sectors; and managing professional relationships (after all, people do business with people). |
